poultry naturally produces enzymes to aid the digestion of feed nutrients. however, they do not have enzyme to break down fibre completely and hydrolysis of non-starch polysaccharides (nsp) present in the cell wall of the grains. they need exogenous enzymes in feed to aid digestion.

two of the most commonly used carbohydrase enzymes are the amylase and xylanase enzymes. using carbohydrases dramatically improves the digestibility of carbohydrates in animal feed. protease catalyzes the digestion of protein, quickly breaking it down into usable nutrients once ingested by the animal.
